A critical flaw lies hidden within the grand vision of the SDGs: the absence of the renunciation of war. Will we stand by while the future of children around the world is taken away? Or have we already given up from the beginning?

The SDGs declaration contains no explicit goal calling for the renunciation of war. Did humanity abandon the idea from the beginning because it seemed impossible? Will we simply stand by while the future of children around the world is taken away? The renunciation of war is the gateway to a truly sustainable future.

If anger, resentment, and hatred toward former enemy nations are engraved into children’s hearts under the name of “education,” then it becomes a form of intergenerational revenge.

We ourselves — and our parents before us — are the ones who have chosen political leaders. In that sense, the distortions of today’s world are deeply connected to the actions of ordinary citizens in political participation.

This Earth, believed to have been born 4.6 billion years ago, belongs to no one. Every one of the world’s eight billion people is inherently born with the right to live freely anywhere on this planet.
